Asante Kotoko Sporting Club has strongly denounced what it describes as a deliberate and malicious attempt to distort facts surrounding the tragic murder of its devoted supporter, Francis Yaw Frimpong, popularly known as Nana Pooley.

The club’s outrage follows the circulation of a video on social media featuring Prof. EK Wallace of Asempa FM, whom they accuse of spreading falsehoods and fabrications regarding the brutal killing.

In a statement, Asante Kotoko SC condemned Wallace’s comments as “shameful and reprehensible,” arguing that his reckless claims disrespect the memory of the deceased and insult those seeking justice. The club emphasized that at a time when the Ghana Police Service is actively investigating the crime, such irresponsible journalism undermines efforts to combat hooliganism in Ghanaian football.

According to Kotoko, Wallace’s unverified allegations not only interfere with police investigations but could also embolden the criminals responsible for the murder. They described his statements as reckless propaganda aimed at serving a hidden agenda at the expense of truth and justice.

Asante Kotoko SC has given Wallace a 48-hour ultimatum to provide investigators with a detailed report of the research he claims to have conducted regarding the case. The club warned that failure to comply would leave them with no choice but to take legal action.

Signed by Samuel Sarfo Duku, Esq., the club’s statement reaffirmed their commitment to securing justice for Nana Pooley and eliminating violence and hooliganism from Ghanaian football. They have formally reported Wallace’s comments to the Inspector General of Police, vowing to ensure that no individual obstructs the course of justice
