Yango Ride, a service by global tech company Yango Group, has unveiled its Free Trip Insurance Program in Ghana. This groundbreaking initiative, launched in partnership with Glico Life Insurance, provides complimentary insurance coverage for all passengers and partner drivers during rides booked via the Yango app across the country.
This innovative program is designed to enhance safety and security, marking a significant step in Yango’s commitment to introducing advanced safety features across its services. The insurance coverage protects against unforeseen incidents during rides, including accidental medical expenses, total permanent disability, bodily injury, or death. Importantly, this service is offered at no additional cost to users.
“As a company, Yango cares about the safety and well-being of both the partners’ drivers and passengers,” said Tom Ofonime, Country Manager of Yango Ride in Ghana. “We ensure that everyone using our platform is well-informed about the advanced safety features through regular training, in-app communication, and other activities. Partnering with Glico Life Insurance allows us to offer free trip insurance that provides peace of mind to all users of our service.”
The collaboration between Yango and Glico Life Insurance underscores a shared commitment to improving safety standards in the ride-hailing industry. Speaking at the launch, Maame Dufie Achampong-Kyei, Managing Director of Glico Life Insurance, emphasized the importance of such partnerships:
“This partnership marks another step forward in realizing our mission of bringing insurance to the doorstep of every Ghanaian household. We are thrilled to partner with Yango to provide trip insurance coverage for both drivers and passengers using their platform. At GLICO, we are committed to providing peace of mind and security for all parties involved in rides. Together, we are contributing to improved road safety.”
The launch of the Free Trip Insurance Program builds on Yango’s series of safety and support initiatives rolled out throughout the year. These include Yango Delivery’s recent partnership with Provident Insurance to offer insurance coverage for couriers and collaborations with Beaver Health and Standout Care to provide free medical screenings and subsidized healthcare to partner drivers and couriers.
With the festive season approaching, Yango and Glico Life Insurance are calling on all Ghanaians to prioritize safety and make use of the robust insurance coverage available when using the Yango platform. This initiative further solidifies Yango’s role as a leader in the ride-hailing industry, committed to innovation and care for its users and partners.
