President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Malik Basintale, the Deputy National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), as the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA).
The appointment follows the resignation of Kofi Baah Agyepong, the outgoing CEO, who stepped down citing personal commitments and aspirations. In a letter to President Mahama, Mr. Agyepong described his two-year tenure as “an honour and a privilege” and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to reducing youth unemployment in Ghana.
Malik Basintale, a dynamic and influential voice within Ghanaian politics, is set to assume office on Monday, January 27, 2025. Known for his strong communication skills and deep understanding of youth issues, Basintale’s leadership is anticipated to bring renewed energy and direction to the agency.
Kofi Baah Agyepong’s resignation marks a continuation of leadership changes in key state-owned agencies following the December 7 Presidential Election. His departure underscores a broader reshuffle aimed at aligning government agencies with the new administration’s vision and priorities.
As the new Acting CEO of YEA, Basintale is expected to build on the agency’s mission to tackle youth unemployment while introducing fresh strategies to create sustainable job opportunities for Ghanaian youth.
