The Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) has announced the appointment of Edmond Kombat as its new Managing Director. A seasoned lawyer, entrepreneur, and energy expert, Kombat takes on the role at a critical time for the refinery, which has faced significant operational and financial challenges in recent years.
With extensive experience in the oil and energy sector and a proven leadership background, Kombat is poised to spearhead the revitalization of TOR. His priorities include restructuring and modernizing the refinery’s operations and forging partnerships with private sector stakeholders to attract investment and technical expertise.
Commenting on his appointment, Kombat expressed optimism about TOR’s future: “I am honored to be entrusted with the responsibility of leading TOR at this critical juncture. I am confident that, working together with the dedicated team at TOR, we can restore the refinery to its former glory and ensure it plays a vital role in meeting Ghana’s energy needs.”
Kombat’s academic credentials are equally impressive. He holds a First-Class Honours degree from the University of Ghana, an LL.B from the GIMPA Faculty of Law, and BL and QCL qualifications from the Ghana School of Law.
Beyond his academic and professional accomplishments, Kombat is the Founder and Chairman of the Edkom Group of Companies and the Co-Founder and Director of Research and Finance at the Institute for Energy Security (IES).
His appointment marks a new chapter for TOR, with high hopes for a resurgence that will secure the refinery’s place as a key player in Ghana’s energy landscape.
