The Savannah Regional Secretariat of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has strongly condemned the recent destruction of party property in Bole, describing the acts as “barbaric and anti-party.”
In a letter addressed to the Regional Commander of the Ghana Police Service on January 21, 2025, Regional Secretary Salisu Be-Awuribe outlined the incidents of vandalism, which reportedly involved the destruction of NDC-branded signboards by individuals allegedly linked to the party.
The acts of vandalism are believed to have been triggered by dissatisfaction over the non-appointment of preferred individuals as ministers in the new administration. The NDC Regional Executive Committee has distanced itself from the behavior, warning that any party member found culpable will face disciplinary actions.
The party has called on the police to investigate the incidents thoroughly and prosecute not only the perpetrators but also anyone remotely connected to the unlawful acts. The leadership emphasized that this will serve as a deterrent to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
“We entreat all Party Faithfuls and the people of Ghana to remain calm and to trust in the ability of the Competent President Mahama to select a team of persons he believes are better placed to help him reset the Country,” the statement read.
The NDC’s strong stance highlights its commitment to maintaining discipline within the party and upholding the rule of law. It also reinforces the importance of respecting party structures and decisions in a bid to foster unity and focus on delivering for the people of Ghana.
The police have been urged to act swiftly in addressing the issue to bring closure and ensure peace in the Bole township.
